Kevin Boone is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CSX, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's financial and strategic direction. In this capacity, he oversees all financial operations, including accounting, financial planning, investor relations, procurement, tax, and treasury. Additionally, Boone leads the Corporate Communications, Media Relations, and Sustainability functions, ensuring CSX maintains a strong reputation and responsible operational footprint. He also manages activities related to Quality Carriers, CSX’s subsidiary specializing in bulk liquid chemical truck transportation.
Previously, Boone served as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, leading CSX’s Sales and Marketing organization for four years and driving the company’s profitable growth strategies. Boone brings extensive financial expertise to his current role, which he previously held for two years during the company’s navigation of supply chain challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Boone joined CSX in September 2017 as Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Chief Investor Relations Officer. He has also held the role of Vice President of Marketing and Strategy.
Before joining CSX, Boone spent 18 years in the investment industry, focusing on finance, accounting, and mergers and acquisitions. His career includes roles as Senior Equity Research Analyst at Janus Capital, Vice President in equity research at Morgan Stanley, and Associate in the mergers and acquisitions group at Merrill Lynch.
Boone holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Florida and a master’ degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
