Expanded Interline Prices Now Available on CSX.com

11/18/2005
Jacksonville, Fla.

Customers of CSX Transportation can now obtain instantaneous interline prices for destinations on the Norfolk Southern and Canadian Pacific railroads.

Since earlier in the year, interline prices have been available for general merchandise carload shipments originating on CSXT and shortline partners, with destinations on Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), Canadian National (CN) and Union Pacific (UP). Adding Norfolk Southern (NS), and Canadian Pacific (CPRS) gives customers access to instantaneous interline prices for virtually the entire North American rail system.

By simply entering the origin, destination and commodity for an interline shipment, customers receive interline prices made from a combination of each railroad's independently established price for its portion of the shipment.

"Instantaneous interline pricing quickly gives customers the information needed to make sound transportation decisions," said Ed Jenkins, assistant vice president-eBusiness and marketing strategy. "When a customer finds a price to use, the customer simply clicks to accept the price, which will then become valid for up to a year."

"Our customers have told us they need instantaneous pricing on all business, including price quotes for interline shipments," said Jenkins. "We have now provided instantaneous interline prices for the vast majority of our commodities and connecting carriers."
