What:
|
|
|
|
More than 100 volunteers from CSX and City Year created an outdoor
learning classroom, planted a vegetable and butterfly garden,
refurbished the outdoor courtyard, painted wall murals and
inspirational quotes and built storage shelves for gym equipment
at Crittenden Middle School in Newport News. At the same time in
Norfolk, CSX volunteers joined others from the Virginia Port
Authority and Virginia Maritime Association to remove trash and
debris as part of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Clean the Bay
Day. CSX was the lead sponsor of 2012 Clean the Bay Day activities
in Virginia; in 2011, 6,500 volunteers removed over 200,000 pounds
of debris along more than 500 miles of shoreline in the
Commonwealth. In the afternoon, CSX participated in King-Lincoln
Park Day, as a sponsor of this family-oriented festival. For more

areas to provide common high expectations for academics and school
climate. Clean the Bay Day is part of an ongoing effort to
