What:

For the fifth time in four years, CSX Corporation and City Year
will join forces for a large-scale day of service in Baltimore,
this time transforming the Francis Scott Key School. Nearly 100
volunteers from CSX, City Year and the Locust Point Civic
Association will be joined by 25 volunteers from Under Armour to
paint murals inside and outside the school, build outdoor trash
can holders and flower beds, mulch the playground, repair benches
and plant 65 trees on the school grounds and in neighboring
Latrobe Park. Volunteers from the National Aquarium will plant 35
trees funded by CSX at Fort McHenry as part of the War of 1812

Why:

On the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, which inspired "The Star
Spangled Banner," the school named after the anthem's composer, is
benefitting from a much-needed facelift. Located minutes down the
road from Fort McHenry, Francis Scott Key School works to ensure
that students have the attitudes, skill and proficiencies needed
to succeed in college and in the 21st century global
workforce.
